Melamine Furniture

For general care and maintenance, most spills or marks will wipe away with a damp cloth. Mild dishwashing detergent with water will assist in removing greasy marks. Rubbing gently with a clean, dry cloth will bring back the brightness of laminates. Avoid abrasives as they will damage the surface.

Waxes and polishes will dull the natural shine. Streaky marks can sometimes appear, particularly on dark colours. If after cleaning as above and the marks remain, an all-purpose cleaner such as Windex or Ajax Spray N Wipe can remove them. Please note: in certain lights or from different angles, wipe down marks may be more visible.

For further information go to the Laminex website http://www.laminex.com.au. Or view "Care-And-Maintenance" brochure.

Laminated surfaces can be damaged by items placed directly onto the surface. Darker colours will show scratches more readily than lighter colours. To minimize scratching, always place and lift objects from the surface – never drag or slide them across the surface.

Be careful of placing furniture in direct sunlight. Continuous exposure may cause discolouration or fading over time and may also affect the effectiveness of the adhesive used.

Chairs

Fabric Chairs

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
  • Avoid any direct heat source such as a heater.
  • Chairs should be vacuumed regularly using the upholstery tools supplied with your vacuum cleaner.
  • Attend to marks and stains as soon as they occur to minimize a stain setting.
  • Keep upholstery as dry as possible when removing stains, and dry the area as quickly as possible.
  • Check with fabric manufacturer for further care instructions, including stain removal.

Leather Chairs

  • A leather chair can be very sensitive to dust. Regularly dust the chair with a soft clean cloth.
  • Use a soft, clean cloth slightly damp with soapy water and wash a small area of the leather chair. Rinse the soap off that area using another clean cloth that has been slightly dampened. Buff dry the leather of the chair immediately with yet another clean cloth.
  • Apply your chosen leather cream to your leather chair after its cleaning. Only use it on clean leather though to avoid sealing any dirt and oils to your leather chair. Use a good quality leather conditioner cream and follow the directions care.
